Shadow’s 1990 Debut on American Radio – ZROCK

Iron Umbrella

Shadow Live Bootlegs

Living After Midnight

Front row recording (ugh) of us performing Judas Priest’s “Living After Midnight”, as we helped a bar full of Germans ring in the new year in 1988 (Pilsquelle am Bergl, Schweinfurt, Germany). Not sure who was more inebriated – the audience or the band … either way, it was fun!

Rock and Roll

Here we are, futzing around in the old practice room in Sennfeld, West Germany circa 1988.

Born to Be Wild

It’s a staple that every band has to play. We played it often, generally in the presence of the finest German bier …

Shadow (aka Shadow, aka The Missionary)

The song that just couldn’t keep a name … lol. From a gig we played on New Year’s Eve in Germany …

Excuse Me, Can I Buy Five More Tequilas, Please?

I laughed when I came across this snippet of a guy shouting for more booze during the start of “Crying in the Dark.” We heard it, as he was right in the front row, and literally stopped playing due to laughing and had to restart the song.

Brain Damage Demo Sessions, Germany, 1987

The original reel recordings have unfortunately deteriorated to the point where they are unusable, but I was able to salvage these from an old mix-down cassette.

Children of the Future

One of the four songs recorded in the original Brain Damage demo sessions circa 1987.

Living On The Edge

One of the four songs recorded in the original Brain Damage demo sessions circa 1987.

Crying in the Dark

One of the four songs recorded in the original Brain Damage demo sessions circa 1987.

The Missionary

One of the four songs recorded in the original Brain Damage demo sessions circa 1987.

Shadow Demo Sessions, Germany, 1988

The Soldier

Shortly before I joined the band, the guys recorded a demo of this awesome song with Tony doing the vocals.

Iron Umbrella

As with the song above, this one was recorded just before I joined the band. Tony again on vocals. This song was later destined to be the title track of our 1989 LP.
