    coffee.gifCommon wisdom dictates professional courtesy; or does it? It used to. At least I thought it did.

    I got a call recently from a recruiter here in Atlanta. I won’t mention her name, or the firm she was with. Even though I’ve had my doubts about this firm for some time now, it really isn’t important who they are. As this is already starting to sound like YARS (Yet-Another Recruiting Story), you may be wondering why I’m filing this in the “Business Networking” category here at The Pothole.     Why You Need a Recruiter When You Don’t Need a Job!

Too frequently it is only when your job is in trouble that you even think about a recruiter; it is “Oh my God I am going to be out of a job; I need a recruiter!” You call a recruiter and say “find me job; I need a job!” People spend a lot of time on resumes, on networking or Web sites, but when it comes to recruiters they have a very rudimentary approach. Few people are really leveraging recruiters, except for immediate need.

    Mornin’ Cup: Those Spaminous Recruiters!

    Resume “spamming”, or blasting your resume out to thousands of recruiters , is a practice that most good recruiters recommend against. For good reason, too. It smacks of “desperation” and is viewed most commonly as spam. But lately, some recruiters have been utilizing some very similar (and questionable) tactics as well.
