bOK Systems – The Sequel

Some of you were quick to point out that the video I linked to in my recent post covering bOK Systems (specifically, the video pitch for their product given by CEO Aydin Mirzaee), was pulled from YouTube.

I received an email from Aydin providing a new video and some clarification on why he pulled the original video. Here is an excerpt from his email:

Thank you for your article. I appreciate the candor in your writing…

What we realized was that our first video did not get to point of the company across… the mobile phone demo was just to demonstrate that our ad serving system is medium independent and that it can insert ads into the phone, TV, radio, internet, etc…(in the mobile phone case, the calls would be free)…

We have since created another video (under 2 mins) that does the job right.

WIthout further adieu, here is the new video for bOK Systems: Just click the video to play it:

Aydin was criticized by some for pulling the original video from YouTube, and in fact, was criticized by some for even putting his pitch out there to begin with. However, I think my original thoughts are still salient here. I give him credit for evolving and iterating his pitch. I have seen tons of entrepreneurs over the years who don’t do that. I also give him credit for leveraging viral video (the biggest disruptive technology since the mobile phone) to get his message out there. As much as I pound on Atlanta for being a soft venture market, I can only imagine what bOK Systems must be going through (they hail from Canada.) There are lessons here, folks.

I also had an opportunity to take a look at Aydin’s executive summary, and while I certainly want to be cognizant of confidentiality, I will say this: he has certainly thought this thing through. I have to give him a blackmark on his web presence, though. The boknow.com website is not functional at all.

Cheers.
